All Strange Away. Illustrated by Edward Gory. New York: Gotham Book Mart,, 1976. Quarter calf, patterned paper boards, title lettered in gilt to spine, housed in publisher's slipcase. A fine copy. This is the first appearance in print of 'All Strange Away' issued in an edition limited to 200 numbered & Signed copies, and 26 lettered copies. This is copy 67, Signed by Beckett and Gory. "Although written in 1963, "All Strange Away" did not see general publication until 1979, appearing after the other short works or "residua" which have characterized his non-dramatic work during the last twenty years. It can be considered an earlier version of "Imagination Dead Imagine", but is different in tone, variety of description and emotional content. Its compression and poetic quality is, as with all Mr Beckett's work since the forties, an extraordinary literary phenomenon."
