Bianconi - King of the Roads. Dublin: Figgis, 1962. First Edition. Pp 190. Blue paper boards, in pictorial dust jacket. Jacket lightly worn, otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Carlo Bianconi as a boy & 14 plates in the text.

Inscribed by the author, Molly O'C Bianconi on the half-title, the great-grand daughter of Charles Bianconi. 

The story of Charles Bianconi (1786-1875)  who revolutionized the transport system of nineteenth-century Ireland. This full-length biography draws largely on his private papers and diaries. The author describes his is youth in Italy, his early days as a pedlar in Ireland, and his rise to a near-monopoly of transportation throughout his adopted country. His life spanned many important events including the Famine in the 1840s and he became a close friend of Daniel O'Connell.
