Early Life of Eamon De Valera. Dublin: Talbot, 1927. Second edition. Pp xii, 236. With 6 plates. Cloth spine, yellow paper boards with portrait sketch of de Valera to upper cover. Covers lightly soiled, browning to endpapers, otherwise a good copy.
The biography was first published in 1922 and written during the War of Independence. The author describes the dangers associated with being in the possession of what the British forces deemed 'Seditious documents.' The manuscript had nearly as many escapes as de Valera himself, and an interesting account of its survival is outlined in the preface.
