The foundations of the city are traced back to St Patrick, born in the area around 373 and follows development of Christianity in Ireland from that point.

The revision of the original “Memoirs” (with its Protestant focus) to one in which the emphasis shifted to Catholicism, came at the suggestion of Cardinal Michael Logue, Archbishop of Armagh
