Chipping at the extremities of jacket with a chip/loss to the rear upper corner, and a small patch of loss to upper spine (with resulting sunning to cloth), small neat name on front pastedown, otherwise a very good copy. Uncommon in the original first state jacket. The first English edition, first state with no mention of this title in the advertisments page. The jacket is illustrated with a wraparound colour painting by Aubrey Hammond dipecting a robot and futuristic scenery. The 'Editor's Note' promotes the movie version of the novel, with the film company and the English distributor's logos 'UFA' and 'Wardour' printed on the upper right of the jacket. German director Fritz Lang based his expressionist masterpiece (released in 1927) on the novel which became one of the most enduring and influential films of the silent era.
