Mutiny for the Cause. The Story of the Revolt of Ireland's 'Devil's Own' the Connaught Rangers, in British India. London: Cooper, 1969. Pp, 106. Very good copy in pictorial dust jacket.
'The rising was sparked off by accounts which the men had received from home of atrocities committed against their families by the Black and Tans. As with any revolt there were other discontents involved, but in the main it was the news from Ireland which caused the mutineers to take such drastic action - action which in turn was brutally and hypocritically suppressed by the military authorities faced with a situation almost unparalleled in the annals of the British Army.'
