Patrick Weston Joyce (1827-1914), Limerick born educationalist, popular historian and writer on Irish placenames, and one of the great collectors of Irish traditional music. The work is divided into four parts, many of the tunes drawn from his own personal collection. The last two parts include songs form the Forde & Pigot collections. The P. W. Joyce Collection is kept at the Cregan Library in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Dublin.
