Black paper covered boards with title lettered in gilt to upper board & spine, black & gold patterned endpapers. Light fading to boards, contents clean and bright. Lacks publisher's dust jacket. Salome was the first work by Wilde illustrated by Vassos in his restricted palette of tones and shapes. It was later followed by 'The Ballad of Reading Gaol' and 'Harlot's House'. He illustrated relatively few authors during his active years, Oscar Wlde being his favourate.
