Publisher’s black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, in pictorial dust jacket with gun wrapping around and flies, designed by Richard Chopping. Neat ownership inscription partially erased to top of front free endpaper, otherwise a fine bright copy.

Only a very limited number of first state copies (said to be less than 1,000) were made with the famous golden gun embossed on the front cover prior to the design changes for quality reasons. The present copy is the more common second state printing.
