Tom Barry was the commander of the Third West Cork Brigade of the IRA, the book recounts his experiences leading a small but highly effective flying column against British forces between 1919 and 1921. Barry’s narrative centres on key engagements like the Kilmichael Ambush and the Battle of Crossbarry, showcasing how lightly armed volunteers outmanoeuvred better-equipped British troops, including the Black and Tans, Auxiliaries, and RIC.

Guerrilla Days in Ireland was serialized in The Irish Press before its book release, gaining immediate popularity. It has since been reprinted multiple times.
