John O’Daly (1800–1878) was a significant Irish publisher, bookseller, and scholar who played a crucial role in preserving and promoting Irish-language literature during the 19th century. A prolific publisher who dedicated his life to making Irish poetry and manuscripts accessible to a wider audience.

His notable works include: Reliques of Irish Jacobite Poetry (1844), The Poets and Poetry of Munster (1849) and The Irish Language Miscellany (1876): A collection of poems by Munster bards that he both collected and edited. Beyond publishing, O’Daly was instrumental in founding the Hiberno-Celtic Society and the Ossianic Society, which aimed to promote Irish studies.
