Mr. Gilhooley. London: Cape, 1926. First Edition. Pp, 288. Brown cloth with publisher’s device blind-debossed to the rear board, in original pictorial dust jacket. A very good copy.
One of O’Flaherty’s one of his ‘morbid’ novels, set in a ‘murky Dublin,‘ and upon publication it caused an uproar over its ‘indecent’ content,’ featuring a character described as a ‘girl of the streets.’
The dust jacket features two illustrations by John Austen (1886-948), an illustrator initially influenced by Aubrey Beardsley and later by Art Deco .
