Treasure Island. New Edition featuring original illustrations by Wal Paget. London: Cassell & Co., 1899. First Edition Thus. Publisher’s purple cloth board, title in gilt to spine, top edge in gilt. Fading to cloth, otherwise a nice bright copy. A later state binding with adverts dated 1901.

Illustrated with full page plates & numerous drawings within the text by Walter Stanley Paget.

A prolific British illustrator active in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, Paget is perhaps best known today for his connection to the Sherlock Holmes canon and for illustrating classic adventure novels.

Loosely inserted is a charming hand drawn treasure map by a previous owner.
