The name of Robert Monteith will forever be linked with Roger Casement. Captain of ‘A’ Company, 1st Battalion of the Dublin Brigade, Monteith had ample experience in military surroundings through his sixteen years of service in the British Army.
“Splendid, faithful Monteith,” exclaimed Roger Casement as he sat in his prison cell, reviewing the glorious failure of his plan to bring aid to Ireland in her hour of need.
A revised edition with a foreword by Franz Von Papen, was published in 1953.
