Spine with raised bands and compartments embellished in gilt. Title label to vol. 1 partially present, lacking in second vol. Spine scuffed & lightly worn; pale stain to portrait plates are rear leaves of volume 1. Contents pages in good condition.

Joseph Holt (1756- 1826) was active during most of the 1798 rebellion. He rallied the defeated rebels with skill and resource and organized guerrilla resistance. Holt eventually surrendered himself on 10 November 1798 on condition of his exile without trial to New South Wales.
