Rose and Crown continues the autobiographical project O’Casey began with I Knock at the Door. This volume covers roughly the late 1920s and early 1930s: his move from Ireland to London, his struggle to support his family, his battle with the Abbey Theatre over The Silver Tassie, and his trip to America for the Broadway production of Within the Gates.
MacDonald Ebeneser Cornelius was the son of Billy Mac McElroy, a close friend of O’Casey’s and a funder of the 1926 London productions of Juno and the Paycock and The Plough and the Stars.
A significant association copy.
