Seán Treacy (1895-1920), operating undercover in Michael Collins’ assassination squad, was killed in a notorious shootout with British Secret Service agents in Dublin. His biographer, Desmond Ryan (1893-1964), had fought in the 1916 Easter Rising.
“One of the first attempts towards a military history of the battles of guerrilla war waged by the IRA and that the attempt can be made on the basis of the life of one man who died in his twenty-sixth year is itself a tribute to the greatness and significance of Sean Treacy himself.”
