First illustrated by Arthur Rackham in 1907, it was issued in both a trade and a limited edition (signed by the artist) that brought special attention to the quality of the art.

Recognized as one of the great pairings of an inimitable illustrator and the imagination of a remarkable storyteller, this work became an extremely influential edition with the marvelous color plates and drawings by Arthur Rackham, showing both a dark side and a sensitivity to the fantasy and “wonder” in the story.
