The first Hugh Thomson illustrated edition of Mansfield Park, part of the celebrated series of Jane Austen novels issued by Macmillan at the turn of the century. Thomson’s delicate pen-and-ink drawings, including numerous full-page plates and vignettes, helped define the visual aesthetic of Austen’s work for a generation of readers.

Hugh Thompson was an Irish Illustrator born at Coleraine near Derry, who is best known for his pen-and-ink illustrations of works by authors Charles Dickens, J. M. Barrie & Jane Austen.

A particularly bright example of this handsomely produced volume.
