Publisher’s cream cloth boards, with title in blue & illustrated endpapers. A number of contents pages with crease marks to lower margins, which have been repaired, light foxing to title, otherwise a lovely clean copy.
Beautifully illustrated with twelve tipped-in colour plates (including the frontispiece) on pages with ruled borders, all with captioned tissue guards. With seventeen full-page black and white illustrations & title page vignette.
Born in Jersey in the Channel Islands, Edmund Blampied’s is known primarily for his etchings and dry-point engraving in the early part of his career. In 1938 Blampied was elected to join the Royal Society of British Artists. This same year he was commissioned to prepare illustrations for this beautiful edition of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan – published in late 1939 as The Blampied Edition of Peter and Wendy.
