Autographed letter signed on printed stationary, dated Wiltshire, 24th April, 1934 to Mr Roberts; tipped-in to front free endpaper. Sassoon apologies form not being able to contribute to Robert’s anthology as he is reserving his unpublished poems for his next volume i.e. this collection ‘Vigils’ his first book of verse since the publication of ‘The Heart’s Journey’ in 1927.

A collection of thirty-five reflective and thoughtful poems influenced by Sassoon’s post war experiences. This first trade issue was preceded by a limited numbered edition, privately published in May, 1934.
