The twelve wood engravings are by the renowned Anglo-American artist Clare Leighton (1898-1989). Leighton’s powerful and dramatic compositions are praised for capturing the “brooding moors” and gothic atmosphere of the story. Notably, her illustrations for this edition directly inspired the set design for the acclaimed 1939 film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon.

This limited edition is considered the first illustrated edition of significance and is a cornerstone for any collection of illustrated modern literature.
