‘People’s Edition’  of this much loved classic by Charles Dodgson, first published by Macmillan in 1865. With fine pen & ink drawings by Tenniel throughout the text. In this copy the illustrations have been neatly coloured-in by hand of a previous owner.

English illustrator and satirical artist, especially known for his work in Punch, Tenniel illustrated the first edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1872).

The ‘People’s Edition’ was first printed in 1887.
