Publisher’s dark navy cloth, with central heraldic emblem in gilt to upper boards, title in gilt to spines & decorative and ruled blind stamped banding. Light shelf-wear but overall a very good set. Housed in custom made solander box.
The first uniform edition, as each volume was issued separately between 1854 & 1859.

Sir John Thomas Gilbert(1854-1859) was librarian of the Royal Irish Academy for 34 years. The Gilbert Library in Dublin’s Pearse Street is named for him.
