Frank Gallagher (1893 -1962) was a noted journalist, author and republican. Throughout the war of independence and the civil war he served as an officer in the Dublin brigade of the IRA but his real influence was as an outstanding propagandist, working for the publicity staff of the underground republican government. He published several other works under the pseudonym David Hogan including Four Glorious Years (1953) which is regarded as his best work. Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart was an English author and military strategist. He wrote a series of military histories that proved influential among strategists, and his pre-war publications are known to have influenced German World War II strategy.

An important association copy, linking two significant figures.
