‘A Continuation of the Impartial History of the Wars of Ireland’ follows Story’s earlier 1691 volume, chronicling the Williamite War (1689-1691), a conflict between supporters of Catholic King James II and Protestant King William III.
George Warter Story, an English clergyman and army chaplain. He writes as an eyewitness, having served as chaplain to the Earl of Drogheda’s regiment, giving his account immediacy and detail. Despite its title, the work is not truly impartial. Story was a staunch Protestant and Williamite supporter, and his narrative reflects the triumphalism of the victors. He portrays Irish Catholics and Jacobites in a negative light, aligning with the broader English Protestant narrative of the time.
