Describes one of the most important events in Irish history. With the Flight of the Earls the Gaelic organisation in Ireland, which had made a vigorous resistance during the previous three quarters of a century, surrendered the last stronghold. It marked the beginning of a new era, starting with the Plantation of Ulster it also had a profound influence on the affairs connected with the rebellions on 1641 and 1689.
