It is an expanded version of the short story “Sara Crewe: or, What Happened at Miss Minchin’s”, which was serialized in St. Nicholas Magazine from December 1887. A truly magical story about the power of optimism in the face of adversity, which continues to enchant readers of all ages.

Harold H. Piffard was a military painter and illustrator. Interestingly he was also a pioneering aviator.
