The Great Industrial Exhibition in Dublin in 1853 was the largest international event to be held in Ireland12. It was entirely funded by William Dargan and was held in Merrion Square in Dublin, on the grounds of Leinster House. The exhibition lasted from May 12th to October 31st, 1853. It was the first international industrial exhibition to be held in the world after the London Exhibition at the Crystal Palace.

 Queen Victoria, accompanied by the Prince Consort and the Prince of Wales, paid an official visit on August 29th.
