One of the most deeply moving of Oscar Wilde’s works “De Profundis,” is his letter written from Reading Gaol to Bosie (Lord Alfred Douglas). An essay on spirituality and faith from the depths of despair, on his death in 1900 it was put in the hands of his executor, Robert Ross, and published in 1905.

The original manuscript is now in the British Library, MS 50141A.
