Cloth lightly faded, spotting to endpapers, jacket chipped along to edge, with a little loss to head of spine; contents pages in nice bright condition.

Joyce began work on the book immediately after completing ‘Ulysses’ writing the first pages on 11th March 1923. Portions of the text first appeared in the literary periodical ‘Transition’ as Work In Progress and several extracts were published by Faber & Faber in the 1930’s.

The full text of ‘Finnegans Wake’ was issued simultaneously in London and New York on 4th May 1939.
