In The Seven Woods was the first book published by the Dun Emer Press, the precursor to the Cuala Press. In a note to John Quinn, Yeats declared this ‘the first book of mine that it is a pleasure to look at – a pleasure whether open or shut. Though many books are printed in Ireland, book printing as an art has been little practiced here since the eighteenth century. The Dun Emer Press has been founded in the hope of reviving this beautiful craft.’
