Founded in 1891, the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society is one of the oldest historical societies in Ireland. Its objects were to publish all available information regarding the history of the City and County of Cork, and to provide an authentic record of current events. With the exception of 1923, the journal has been in continuous publication since its foundation in 1891.
