Murphy. New York: Grove Press, 1957. First American Edition. Linen cloth boards, title lettered in brown to spine, in publisher’s cream dust jacket printed in black with design by Roy Kuhlman. Toning & spotting to jacket spine and lower rear panel, otherwise a nice bright copy.

The first American traded edition with Copyright page stamped “Copyright 1957, Grove Press, Inc”. The Grove Press also printed a limited edition of 100 copies signed by Beckett in the same year.

Murphy was written in English & published in London in 1938. Later translated into French by Beckett and published in Paris in 1947.

The comic genius of Beckett, acclaimed in Waiting for Godot, re-emerges in this his third prose fiction work.
