Publisher Brian O’Higgins (1882-1963) was an active promoter of the Irish language and played a prominent part in the 1916 Easter Rising. A leading figure in the Gaelic revival movement he was widely regarded for his literary abilities. After the conflict, he focused on cultural and literary work, founding the Wolfe Tone Weekly and later establishing his own publishing company, Brian O’Higgins & Co,; which produced nationalist literature, pamphlets, and religious works.

A devout Catholic and traditionalist, his writings often combined Irish patriotism with Catholic devotion.
