Poet, critic, and academic Padraic Colum (1881-1972) was an important figure in the Irish Literary Renaissance; he emigrated to America prior to the Irish Revolution, where he had a long and distinguished career.

“The Fiddler’s House” (1903) was his first play; “The Land” (1905) was a great success.
