The Great Push. An Episode of the Great War. London: Jenkins, 1916. First Edition. Green cloth, titled and ruled in dark green to upper cover, some wear to corners.

When war broke out in 1914 MacGill joined the London Irish Rifles and saw active service. He was injured in the battle of Loos in 1915. Was married in the same year and on recovery returned to his regiment.

This was one of several novels based on his experiences in the Great War. He also produced some excellent poetry chronicling the futility of this ‘war-to-end-wars,’ that stands with that of Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon.
