George Russell first met Yeats at the Metropolitan School of Art, in Dublin in 1884. Firm friends, both were members of the esoteric Theosophical Society. Russell’s play Deirdre was produced alongside Yeats’s Kathleen Ni Houlihan in the Abbey Theatre in April 1902.
