Engraved frontispiece and four portrait plates in the text. The frontispiece shows a memorial to Trafalgar while the full page portraits accompany poems on Nelson, Pitt, Charles James Fox and the Duke of Leinster.

A collection of juvenile poems by the fourteen- year-old Edward Cummins better known as the “Young Hibernian“. It was a great success in its day, the volume contains a magnificent sixteen page list of Irish & English noblemen to the rear.

In the preface, young Edward Cummins reveals that his ambition to publish a poetry collection at just fourteen was met with more than a little mockery. It was only through the steadfast encouragement of his printer, John Barlow, that the project ever reached completion. Beyond this brief glimpse, Cummins remains an elusive figure—his only other known trace in the historical record is a single broadside song, held today by the National Library of Ireland.
