Specially bound copy awarded as a prize in English Literature to William “Monk” Gibbon in June 1912 (bookplate to front pastedown).

William Monk Gibbon (1896 –1987) was an Irish poet and author, known as ‘The Grand Old Man of Irish Letters.’ He was educated at St. Columba’s College, Dublin and Keble College, Oxford.

A prolific writer of poetry, novels. autobiography, travel and criticism, his literary archive is kept at Queen’s University Belfast.
