Original grey printed wrappers, with Abbey logo on front cover, advertisements to rear. Bound in recent cream calf binding, incorporating the image on original wrapper. Wrappers lightly creased & chipped, scattered spotting to contents pages, but generally in very good condition.

There were three issues of this landmark Irish drama, all published by Maunsel. The present ‘Theatre Edition;’ a conventional book or Library edition issued in tan cloth boards and a deluxe edition of 25 copies on hand made paper.

This edition in wrappers is regarded as the first printing and would have been sold in the Abbey Theatre during the production of the play.
