Original burgundy cloth, gilt stamped illustration to centre of upper cover, title in gilt to spine, light fading to covers, occasional spotting to contents but generally in good condition. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: ‘ From Patrick, with all Apologies for Delay.’ Scarce thus. Patrick MacGill (1889-1963) was an Irish journalist, poet and novelist, known as The Navvy Poet because he had worked as a navvy in Scotland before he began writing.
