Claddagh Records is one of Ireland’s most prestigious independent record labels, specialising in traditional Irish music, poetry, and spoken word. Founded in Dublin in 1959 by Garech Browne (a member of the Guinness family and a patron of the arts) and Ivor Browne (a psychiatrist with a passion for Irish culture), the label played a crucial role in preserving and promoting Ireland’s musical heritage. The label sought to document and celebrate authentic Irish culture, recording legendary artists such as Seán Ó Riada, The Chieftains, and Patrick Kavanagh. Seamus Heaney & John Montague recorded a selection of their poems for the label releasing an LP ‘A Northern Muse’ in 1968.
A rare piece of Heaney ephemera.
