Pomes Penyeach. Shakespeare and Company, Paris, 1927. First edition.16mo. With errata slip tipped-in at end. Publisher’s pale green paper, title printed in dark green. Handsomely rebound in half morocco, marbled boards, housed in slipcase. Unusually this copy, like the first two trial issues, was bound in paper wrappers, not paperboards as the regular first edition. Apparently Joyce chose the very pale green paper for the binding of this little book in honour of his favorite apple, the Carville, but unfortunately the paper tans in response to the briefest exposure to light, however this copy, being rebound, retains the original pale green colour.
